A few months ago I had a new book out, and wanted extra copies a.s.a.p. Quickest, easiest method I thought, would be to pick up a couple from Amazon. Go there, find the book, buy a couple, go to pay and – find they don’t have pay pal, or not as anything I recognise. Chase my tail around the site for ages, no sign. Do they or do they not accept pay pal?
So I ask their help section. I click on the first of two questions on that – and get nothing that even refers to PP. Click on the other and ditto. I give up. A month later I try again for several books by other authors. Same result. Today I try for the third time. And yes, same @#$%^&* result. I still have NO idea if I can pay that way, what I do know is that I won’t be bothering to try again.
What use is a site where I can’t even get an answer to a very simple question. Next time I want to buy a couple of hundred dollars worth of books I’ll go to the Book Depository UK who are great, or I’ll get them direct from my publisher. (I only didn’t because with me being on the other side of the world, shipping and postage are complicated.) But they can’t be as complicated as trying to buy on Amazon…

I’ve just had a quick look (based in South Africa) and it seems that Amazon does not accept PayPal (listed are American Express, Diners Club, any Visa or Mastercard, Amazon gift cards and a few others not familiar to me). This is most inconvenient, as I was set to purchase some crochet thread via Amazon and I don’t have a credit card (for a VERY good reason!)
If Amazon no longer accepts PayPal, wouldn’t that be a potential nail in their coffin? Or were they finding so many prepared to pay other ways that it doesn’t bother them? The few times I’ve purchased via Amazon I’ve used credit card. Yes, the Book Depository is a great alternative. Best if Amazon realises that people are seeing it as a good alternative.

Ah ha, so now I know. Thanks. The annoying thing is not that they don’t have PP, I can live with that – very easily, I prefer buying from the Book Depository UK anyhow – it’s that no matter what I clicked on,no matter what section of the Help or FAQs I went to, I could NOT get an answer to the very simple question. Do you have Pay pal?

from what Lynn Erasmus says, I get the impression that they’ve never had PP, and that’s okay by me, I just buy elsewhere, because funny thing. I am NOT getting a credit card solely to buy from amazon.
You don’t need a credit card. A debit card – that’s what I use. Lyn have you tried Book Depository?
Hi Lyn, would Fishpond or Mighty Ape be of any use? They take credit cards, and are NZ based.
